The Mahoning Valley Open Tournament was held on September 20, at the Austintown Fitch High School. We arrived as one of the first couple teams there, pumped to get the robot running. We saw several familiar faces there along with a few foreign ones. We sent out a few team members to find the other robots strengths and weaknesses while others made a few final adjustments to the robot. Our practice match went well with our rookie drive team as they got some of their early nerves shook loose. Normal matches went fairly well, but there were some matches that did not go as well as planned. In the end, we landed in as the tenth seed and were then chosen by the fifth seed. Our first quarter-final match was very close and our alliance was defeated by a mere nine points. The second match was not as close and we packed up a little earlier than we would have preferred. We watched the rest of the matches and cheered on the winning alliance teams, one of which was a rookie! We got a few things out of the day: experience for our drivers, team bonding, and the realization that we needed a new tread system. All in all, we would definitely do it again next year, so long as they continue to host us.
